What we did planning for our wedding

Ok,
here are the basic stuff that we do when we were planning for our wedding. All
prices in Singapore Dollars:
  1. Get a proposal ring
    1. Cost: Top-Secret :) But this I shall reveal: I did not get it from any of those retail shops like LeeHwa/SooKee, not
to mention Tiffany. I got it done by a friend who does jellewry as a sideline. That saved me a bomb, I guess.
    2. It's a 0.49 carat, I think VVS2, color F, with a GIA cert.
    3. My 2cents: To get something like this from a retail shop could easily cost twice as much, so I think it's a right decision for me.
  2. Get the wedding bands
    1. Cost: $500
    2. Again we eschew the well known upmarket retailers for my jellewer friend.
    3. My 2cents: Well worth it. We originally budgetted $1000 for the rings, but since
we were able to save $500 from this deal, we put the unspent amount to some good use. We were quite happy about this.
  3. Book a Bridal shop
    1. Cost: $3288, but we added another $1000 for some extras
    2. The shop took care of things like the bridal gowns, suite for the groom, bridal cars, etc.
    3. My 2cents: Should have spent less on this, especially the extra 1K that we paid to
do 'magazine' style of album. That 1K should have been spent on videography on
      the actual day itself.
  4. Wedding Day
    1. Hotel:
      1. Cost: $698 per table
      2. We booked with PanPac during one of its wedding promotiion.
One of the perks we got was free-flow beer for the dinner. It was something we
thought was important as we do not want to run out beer and face on our big
        day.
      3. My 2cents: It's the cheapest wedding package we could
find that meet our needs for a 5-star hotel. We could have saved a bit more if
we have gone to some other hotels but in the end we think it's not a bad
        choice.
    1. Red Wine
      1. Cost: $17 per 750ml bottle
      2. We got contact for this wine shop that provide various kinds of wine on consignment.
      3. Some hotel charge corkage on a per-bottle basis, so we got purchased bottles with double the usual capacity to 'workaround' that, so got 1.5L bottles at the price of $34 each.
    2. Actual Day Photography
      1. Cost: ~$600 for 480 photos
      2. At a friend's recommendations, we engaged this free-lancer who charged us at quite a reasonable price.
  5. Honeymoon
    1. Cost: ~$6000 for 2 + $1000 for miscellaneous expenses there
    2. For this trip to Europe, we went to Switerland, Paris and Amsterdam. Got some discount from the agency we were are travelling as honeymooners.
    3. My 2cents: The basic price looks reasonable, but the expenses there will add up to quite a lot. Especially the optional tours that are not included in the package price. So watch out for that!
